Flight Mode

Flight Mode ("we", "our", or "the app") is a screen-time disconnection app that helps you take intentional breaks from your phone. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address — used to identify your account and send password reset emails
- Display name — optional name you choose; shown in the app
- Account creation date
If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google. We do not receive your Google password or any other Google account data.
You may also use the app as a guest without creating an account. Guest data is stored only on your device and is not synced to the cloud.
Flight Data
Each "flight" (disconnection session) you log includes:
- Destination name (e.g. "Home", "Work")
- Start and end time, and total duration
- Points earned
- Optional notes you write — these are encrypted before being stored in the cloud; only your device can read them
- Optional photos you attach — stored as references on your device; photo files are not uploaded to our servers
App Settings
- Your chosen username and daily goal (in minutes)
- Your custom destination list
- Total points and bird tier ranking
Usage Data
We do not collect analytics, crash reports, or behavioral tracking data beyond what is necessary to operate the app.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to provide the app's features:

We do not use your data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or share it with anyone outside of what is listed in Section 4.
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Google Firebase Firestore, a cloud database operated by Google LLC. Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections.
Flight notes are encrypted on your device before being sent to the cloud, using a key derived from your account. Neither we nor Firebase can read the content of your notes.
Photos you attach to flights are stored on your device only and are not uploaded to our servers.
Data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is deleted from our servers.
4. Third-Party Services
Flight Mode uses the following third-party services:

We do not use advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or any other third-party data services.
5. Device Permissions
The app may request the following device permissions:

You can revoke any permission at any time through your device's Settings app. Revoking camera or photo library access only prevents new photo attachments — existing data is unaffected.
6. Children's Privacy
Flight Mode is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
7. Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Export your flight history
- Correct inaccurate information in your profile
To exercise any of these rights, or to delete your account, contact us at the email below. We will respond within 30 days.
California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA. EU/EEA residents may have additional rights under the GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you through the app or by email before the change takes effect. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
